Ling Kok Shan Hiking Trail

Ling Kok Shan Hiking

Rustic old villages and pleasant coastal scenery are what you’ll find on this circuitous trail, which takes around 2.5 hours to complete and is well signposted.

Starting Point

Take a ferry from Central Pier 4 to Sok Kwu Wan. From Sok Kwu Wan Ferry Pier, head left past views of the East Lamma Channel.

Abandoned farmland

After around 20 minutes, you’ll pass Mo Tat Old Village. The route then winds through abandoned farmland and past sweeping ocean views. In the distance are Stanley and the island of Po Toi to the east, and the Lema Islands of Mainland China.

Lamma Island’s largest beach

After about five minutes, you’ll reach Shek Pai Wan — the largest beach on Lamma Island. From here, you’ll pass through Tung O village to climb up to Yam Ling Au.

End point

From Yam Ling Au, the walk back to Sok Kwu Wan takes about 50 minutes. If you need a hit of energy before climbing on a ferry back to Central, head for Seafood Street — a group of restaurants raised on stilts above the bay that are often bursting with day-trippers on weekends. Or, take some time and explore the rest of Lamma Island.
