Former French Mission Building

Former French Mission Building

Built by the Mission Etrangères de Paris in 1917 on the foundation of a previous structure, the building’s granite and red brick structure is typical of the neo-classical style of architecture popular during the Edwardian period (1901-1910). The French Mission sold it back to the Government in 1953 and it has since been used for a variety of purposes including as the headquarters of the Education Department, the District Court, the Supreme Court, the Information Services Department and office of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal.

The Former French Mission Building is now a Declared Monument.
